Trip 2014 Day 1

Well it was an full day today several site visits with World Relief at their Church Empowerment Zone in Bugesera about an hour outside of Kigali but first maybe I should fill you in on how I got to this point.

It was raining in Amsterdam which caused a plane change then a gate change and yet another gate change, so we arrived about three hours late, then I learned a couple of  lessons I hope to never forget the first was that the exchange rate for smaller sized bills is nowhere near is if they were large bills the second one is that not all of my phone is functional here and since the flight came in so late it was impossible to get a password for the WIFI so I had no way to communicate with other people here but God is faithful and a ride showed up for me just about the time I finished breakfast.

So back to the day we first stopped and visited with Church Network Committee made up of Pastors from seven different denominations the area who shared how they had seen improvement in the community because of their being united as the body of Christ. Then we saw people from many different churches taking a leadership class on Marriage followed by to home visits with people that have been helped by the empowered church. Lunch finds us in the CEZ (Church Empowerment Zone) office in Bugesera for more sharing and prayer. The afternoon brings a visit to a kids bible study program where the children learn about God and about hygiene followed by a meeting of a Saving for Life where a group of people collectively pool their money and loan it to themselves its a great idea except for the fact we were late and had to pay the fine for a member not being on time 100 rwf each!

Another packed day tomorrow starting with devotions at WR head quarters about a half mile walk away and the day spent with our E Free brothers from California Gary, Brad and Dan.
